When Your Kid Is Disrespectful
In this video, counselors Dr. Kevon Owen and Jack Smith discuss "When Your Kid Is Disrespectful." If you are a parent, you likely have had your kids behave disrespectfully or do unacceptable things.
If your kid speaks to you or your spouse disrespectfully, this is a time to remain calm and ask this question. Why did you talk to me or your mother this way? And wait for them to answer.
Depending on your answer, this is an opportunity to teach them how to speak to a parent. This is not the time to explode in anger and escalate the situation.
Small children are sometimes just repeating something from a cartoon or TV show. They mostly just need instruction on how to speak to someone respectfully.
To speak to a counselor about this or other issues, visit https://www.owenclinic.net or call 405-740-1249 or 405-655-5180.
